Cecil Community Centre Annual General Meeting

We are pleased to announce that the Cecil Community Centre’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Centre’s auditorium.

Join us as we review our achievements over the past year, discuss future plans, and elect new board members. This is a great opportunity for all community members to get involved, share their thoughts, and contribute to the Centre’s growth.

Notice of Closure: Cecil Community Centre on Victoria Day, May 20

Dear Community Members,

Please be advised that Cecil Community Centre will be closed on Victoria Day, Monday, May 20. This closure is in observance of the national holiday, which celebrates the birthday of Queen Victoria and marks the unofficial start of summer in Canada.

Important Information:

  • Closure Date: Monday, May 20
  • Reopening Date: Tuesday, May 21, at regular hours

Affected Services:

During this time, all programs, events, and services scheduled at the Centre will be temporarily suspended. This includes:

  • Children’s programs
  • Seniors programs
  • YSM meal program
  • Room rentals
  • Any scheduled meetings or community events

We encourage all our members to plan accordingly and make use of our services and facilities either before or after the holiday.

Despite the one-day closure, we have a full lineup of exciting events and programs for the rest of May and June, including:

  • Summer Camp Registration: Now open! Secure your spot for a summer full of fun and learning.

Easter Holidays Closure

Warming Centre Deactivation

Cecil Community Centre has been deactivated and cleared as a warming centre today (March 1, 2024), we now have the auditorium available for the previously suspended programs.

All other spaces and services that were shut down to accommodate the warming centre clients are also now available , including venue rental for events.

Your unwavering support for Cecil Community Centre to provide accommodation for the unhoused neighbors in our community during this time is highly appreciated.

Warming Centre Activation At Cecil Community Centre

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is forecasting temperatures for Friday overnight that are approaching -15C. As a result, the Cecil Community Centre warming centre has been activated to provide surge capacity warming spaces for people experiencing homelessness on Friday, February 23, 2024 until further notice.

All programs and activities that use the auditorium will be cancelled for the duration of the activation. The following programs will continue to operate :
