Hold Your Special Events At Cecil Centre
Located in the heart of Toronto next to Kensington Market, our event space offers a special location for your event with a grand auditorium space of over 3800+ square feet with audio and visual capabilities.
We are a non-profit organization with three goals in mind. First goal is to provide whatever space and service you need for your event. Our second goal is to provide job opportunities, once we schedule your event, we reach out to our community members in order to provide employment opportunities for our community. Lastly, the profits we make go directly back into supporting our community centre child, youth and senior programs.
Cecil Community Centre is committed to keeping our space as accessible as possible for all groups of people. What this means for you is that our space is nearly entirely wheelchair accessible with the inclusion of an outdoor ramp as well as an elevator to accommodate those who need it. The only two areas inaccessible for wheelchair users are the kitchen and third-floor balcony level.

No Hidden Fees!
Everyone can agree that hidden fees are annoying and unnecessary, that’s why we don’t hide them! There are only two fees you might need to worry about as a CecilVenues Renter, the Post-event cleaning cost and the Multi-Staff Assistance Fee!
The Post-event Cleaning cost is an additional cost tacked onto every event that includes an extra hour of rental allocated to cleaning the space and leaving it in its original state. Our staff will gladly assist you in cleaning your equipment and belongings while also taking care of the space!
The Multi-Staff Assistance Fee is an additional charge of an additional $25/hour (This Extra cost goes directly to our staff!) for events that are larger than usual and requires more work and subsequent staffing from our end. An event qualifies for the large party surcharge if the event fulfills any 2 of the following:
-Alcohol is planned to be served
-Food is planned to be served
-There are more than 100 planned attendants
-Dinnerware is planned to be rented and delivered to our building.

Frequently Asked Questions
When you rent any space within CCC, you can expect at least 2 members from the CecilVenues Crew to be present and available to help you set up your event in whatever configuration you prefer. All Rentals include the potential use of up 9 rectangular tables (72” X 30”) and up to 15 round tables (60inch in diameter) as well as 100+ chairs.
Within our auditorium, there is a general capacity limit of 268 people. For seating arrangements, the capacity is around 110-130 people depending on table placements. Our downstairs rental area capacity is about 10-30 for each room.
Our event space will be traditionally available from 4:00 PM-1:00 AM depending on whether we have other programs using up the space. Exceptions can be made to start your event earlier in the day depending on the nature of your event. Please note that noise will be turned down by 11:00 PM in accordance with city bylaws.
Yes, while you cannot begin setting up your event early, you can leave some supplies here to make the day of your event easier. Post-event, you can also leave some limited supplies here overnight to be picked up the following morning.
Yes, this means that you cannot come early to set things up as we may have other groups using the space before your event. Please include and accommodate time to prepare and clean up your event when booking.
Keep in mind that the event crew will help your group with both setup and teardown. If you don’t want to clean and you want our event crew to entirely take care of cleaning up, we do offer a clean-up service for a flat rate of $200.
Within our extras package, you get access to two large speakers and microphones as well as a projector & screen if you wanted to display images or videos on the back wall. You also get access to our pool table, piano, and table tennis tables all for $25/hour! Please note that noise will have to be turned down by 11:00 PM in accordance with city laws.
Absolutely, Food and alcohol are always welcome in any event, there is a small fridge that you can use within the auditorium, but we recommend you bring ice trays/coolers and Food warmers.
If you want to serve alcohol.You will need to acquire a special occasion permit.This can be done via the LCBO website at, www.agco.ca/alcohol/special-occasion-permits-private-event
Any food left behind will be donated to community centre members.
There are four main things to remember when renting space in Cecil Community Centre.
- Please abstain from smoking within the venue, smoking out front or in the garden is perfectly acceptable.
- CecilVenues pays its Events Crew a living wage so gratuities are not necessary, however, you are invited to make a donation to the Centre in a Crew Member’s name if you wish.
- Thank you in advance for the offers of meals and refreshments. We kindly ask that guests refrain from offering CecilVenues staff alcohol, and/or cannabis
- In accordance with City Bylaws, all noise will need to be lowered to a manageable volume by 11:00 PM
Cecil typically rents space for events organized by registered non-profit groups or private parties.
