Volunteer Opportunities
Cecil Community Centre is grateful to the many community members who donate their time, talents and passion in support of the work we do every day.
Opportunities are available to participate in many different aspects of the Centre’s daily and long-term activities from programs to governance.
There are many benefits of volunteering including learning new skills, sharing your knowledge and expertise, meeting new people, finding a place to belong and making new friends all while helping to improve the health and vitality of your community.

Board of Management Vacancy
The Cecil Community Centre Board of Management is currently seeking candidates for the current two-year term position (starting immediately and ending June 2026), who possess a robust mix of skills, knowledge and experience, and reflect the diversity of our community.
Board Member Expectations
As a Cecil Community Centre Board Member, you will assist the organization with policy creation, financial oversight, fundraising, and overall strategic direction. You will review and act upon committee recommendations brought to the board, and provide governance, financial oversight and support to the Centre’s Executive Director. If you are looking for a way to make a difference in the community, this could be the opportunity for you.
- Board members are expected to commit the necessary time to fulfill their duties including attending monthly board meetings, the Annual General Meeting and other special meetings; and participating in a board committee.
- Board meetings are typically held monthly on the last Thursday of every month (approximately of 9 meetings per year).
- Board Members are also expected to serve on one committee. (Finance, Fundraising, or Governance
- Board members are asked to serve a two-year term, and the estimated monthly time commitment is 4-6 hours per month plus any committee activities.
- Board members are expected to be properly prepared for meetings by reviewing all board materials distributed in advance.

Board Member Eligibility Requirements
We are particularly seeking candidates who lives in Toronto and preferred in the Centre’s catchment area and possess the following skills:
- Human Resources
- Marketing/ Communications
- Preferred Board member experience but no required
Individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQI+, Black, Indigenous, or Persons of Colour are also encouraged to apply. Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- be over the age of 18
- be a resident of the City of Toronto
- not be in a restricted category as defined in the City of Toronto Public Appointments Policy
Prior to appointment, Cecil Community Centre will also require the following from the successful candidates:
- become a member of Cecil Community Centre
- provide signature declaring full disclosure of conflict of interest, and declaring their understanding and commitment to fulfill their role as a Board Member (Declaration Package)
- a copy of your current resume or curriculum vitae
- a short biography and head shot that will be published on the Cecil Community Centre website
